Physical therapy includes a set plan of care composed of exercise and functional training depending on the particular needs of the patient. Therapists may also offer manual manipulation of a joint or painful area in order to eliminate pain and restore function. Manual manipulation is similar to a muscle massage in order to promote proper movement and function. Physical therapists may use other techniques such as electrotherapy, ultrasound (high-frequency waves that produce heat), and hot/ice packs in addition to other treatments to achieve your goals.
Here at Vital Energy, our highly skilled therapists have been trained and educated to work with patients who have undergone a variety of surgies and are in the rehabilitation stages of their recovery. At your first visit, your therapist will work with you to develop a plan of care that follows a specific post-surgical protocol designed for your needs and goals. We strive in returning our patients to optimal strength, function, and mobility as quickly as possible so that they may return to their normal daily routines. Common post-operative cases include total joint replacement of the knee, shoulder, or hip as well as ligament and tendon repairs, ORIF/OREF implants, joint fusion, and nerve compression release.
Rehab for Osteoarthritis & Rheumatoid Arthritis
Our physical therapists also often work with patients who are suffering from osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Individuals with arthritis are at risk for decreased flexibility, muscle atrophy, decreased muscle strength and reduced cardiovascular endurance. The therapists at Vital Energy are trained and licensed to provide guidance for safe exercises in order to improve overal physical fitness and health for these patients. Depending on your diagnosis and treatment plan, we may also combine other modalities such as aquatic therapy, deep heat/cold, and electric stimulation which can greatly improve your progress. Common goals for arthritis patients include a greater ease for activities of daily living and an overall improved range of motion and sense of well being.
At Vital Energy, we treat the lower back, or lumbar, as well as cervcial spine (closer to the neck) in order to decrease pain and increase function so that patients may continue to live their daily lives to the fullest. We offer many different treatments for back pain including heat/ice packs, TENS units, electrical stimulation and ultrasound. Our therapists may also guide you in specific exercises in order to strengthen and stretch your back muscles. Lastly, manual manipulation may also be part of your individualized plan of care in order to release tension built up in the back muscles.
